Harvest Moon

When I used to live off Via de la Valle in Del Mar, California ages ago I saw the hot air balloons taking off from the San Dieguito Lagoon almost every clear evening. Separately I once went to see a harvest moon from Mount Soledad (also ~20 years ago) and wanted to combine these experiences in this little 8x10” oil painting on two pieces of plexiglass.

The moon and background are painted on the very back, the little balloon and long cloud on the front of that piece of plexiglass. On the most front piece of plexiglass - they are separated with spacers - I painted the larger balloon on the back and the largest cloud on the front. This gives actual depth to the painting.

The piece is framed in a rustic barn wood frame, which is included in the price.

On the outside the piece measures about 13.5 inches wide and 11.5 inches tall.
