Bioluminescent Ocean

In the spring of 2020 a long and intensive red tide took place in Southern California. I went out at midnight and got some shots of the bioluminescence that takes place when the tiny organisms get disturbed, as happens when waves break. This image was obtained by combining about 10 different images with a long exposure of 8 seconds and rotating the camera on my tripod at the same time. The sparkly areas are reflections of the moon on the inside of the curves of waves.

This image is available in an open edition at 16x8 inches and smaller and in 6 size-limited editions: 18x9 inches (total of 40), 24x12 inches (total of 30), 36x18 inches (total of 20), 48x24 inches (total of 18), 60x30 inches (total of 15) and in 10 arbitrary sizes. When ordered framed, it will have a barnwood frame.
