6. From the Ocean to the Skies
Hawaii 2021
Day 6
At 2:00 o’clock we had to check in at the Maui Zip Line, so we had some time to do something else in the morning. First we were thinking of going to the beach just in front of our hotel at Kaanapali Beach but instead decided to pack all our clothes and swimming gear and drove to North Kaanapali instead.
I turned north on Highway 30 and took a random left turn at some point. Turned out it was Kahekili Beach Park. Perfect. We plopped our stuff on the grass next to the sand. When we got to the water you could clearly see rocks just a little off shore. I tried swimming and was touching the rocks with my knees. So we all put on our snorkel gear and swam over them. It turned out to be one of the best snorkeling spots so far!
The water was super clear and the whole floor was covered with all kinds of coral. Among plenty of fish we spotted a very large nunu peke.
After a little while Kate wanted to play in the waves without snorkel gear and Marie went with her more south where there was more sand. I stayed behind. I dove to the bottom to get some videos of fishes swimming just above the coral and when I came up a saw a turtle. When it dove to the bottom I followed it for a a bit.
There were a lot of scuba divers around. I swam past them to find Marie and Kate. I saw them and tried to sneak up on them from the water. However, Kate spotted me and attacked me.
The zip lining company was easy to find on the farm. We were a little early so we walked around. I took some pictures of a chicken with her chick and ducks. They came very close.
Marie wanted to pet the ducks. She had a pet duck when she was little and taught us one time how to pet a duck. But these ducks weren’t very interested and refused to be petted.
It was time to put on the zip lining gear and get instructed. Only Marie and Kate were going to zip line while I was going to take photos and videos of them from the ground.
When they were up on the wooden structures Marie was sending me pics she took of me and vice versa. Later Kate said that she was terrified at the first run, a little less scared at the second and totally used to it after the third run. One of my photos showed that very well, with her zipping down with a stern look.
I also took my first photo of a growing pineapple, I had no idea that the plants carry only one pineapple at a time.
