I have added lifeguard tower 15 at Cardiff State Beach to my portfolio. The version you see here is still based on the original color photo, but I already have printed it in black and white on canvas and am about to hand color it with acrylics. Going soon to a beautiful home in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

Pop-up Art Experience Program with Carlsbad Village Association

I'm excited to announce that from August 14th till October 6th, 2021 I will be participating in this collaboration between local and regional artists and Carlsbad Village businesses. I will have on display one of my Bodie images from inside Bodie's elementary school (not published yet), and an image from one of my favorite national parks "Joshua Tree 2019" (above), when there was lots of snow in the park.

Carlsbad Art in the Village

It was good to be back at Carlsbad Art in the Village on Sunday June 27th! Turnout was great and it was nice to see familiar and new faces. Overall, people were happy to be out and about again. It was my first big event since January 2020 (and for many fellow artists as well). Kudos to the Carlsbad Village Association and Kennedy Faires.

Encinitas Coffee Table Book Coming Along

As my first edition of my coffee table book with Encinitas hand colored images is running low in copies, I started putting in more time in the second edition. In addition to new photos, the second edition book will also have a few more historical facts about Encinitas. My wife and daughter always get very excited when I announce I have another "fact of the day" for them!
For example, did you know that "by-the-sea" was added about 6 years later to "Cardiff" after its foundation? It is based on the song "By the Beautiful Sea" from 1914. Victor Kremer was responsible for that, who was a German-born composer and musician. He also developed the Composer District just north of Birmingham Ave with street names such as Mozart and Hyden Ave
