Torrey Pines Winter

This view was part of my commute when I was still working as a scientist at the University of California San Diego and lived in Del Mar. It was time to get a good shot.

There was a storm coming in on January 22nd - which brought quite a bit of rain and wind over the weekend - and thought the clouds at sunset would give a nice contribution to this scene.

In this six by four foot version on canvas, I painted in the sky between the clouds with opaque oil paint. I blended the sky paint with the clouds in the photo. The ocean was colored with transparent acrylic paint. The rest of the photo was colored with transparent oils. This piece can be viewed at Julie's Beach at 1440 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA.

Cardiff Dream Too

I have had "Cardiff Dream Too" in my database since 2015, but only a couple of weeks ago decided to publish it. One of my collectors was looking for a horizontal shot from Swami's and was glad to run into this one! In only a couple of weeks it has sold several times already, including the above six by four foot version on canvas, which I hand colored with opaque and transparent oils and acrylics, the same approach as "Torrey Pines Winter" above.
